Rumor: 3.2-MP camera for iPod Classic, Nano and Touch
The long-awaited iPod camera could, surprisingly, also include the older iPod Classic as well as iPod Nano and iPod Touch. OmniVision, which provides cameras for iPhone 3GS, was interviewed by DigiTimes reveals the intention of Apple to provide camera 3.2-MP of the three lines of iPod with a display, including that based on the hard disk. The three new versions of iPods are expected in September, more precisely for l ‘event scheduled for next September 9.
Nothing is known about the functioning of the cameras. It is suspected that only with the ‘iPod Touch you can record videos because of the interface multi-touch and the faster processor.
If the news was confirmed would mean that OmniVision would enjoy a monopoly in the demand for cameras and Apple, according to sources, could reach to deliver about 18 million cameras in the quarter. Apple is not the only customer of OmniVision but surely become more important.
