The iPod Touch much more than a simple media player

A few days ago I promised to tell you how much you can do with an iPod Touch (sorry for the delay), and how it is positioned in the market for mobile devices, but after thinking it through, I decided it was best left to the translation an article I wrote some time ago, and I think a good example of how much you can do with an iPod Touch. I updated to translate some parts. At the end of the article is a link to the original (English):

Let’s be clear from the beginning, I’m not the CEO of any company, not the busiest person you could imagine, but like many of us, one way or another I have so many things to do during the day, and like many rely heavily on my computer (my MacBook Pro) to achieve them.

And with that, I must admit I am among those who would like to have both an iPhone 3G as an iPod Touch at the same time. I know it too but I like both very much. However, since I mobilized mostly on foot, by taxi and in combination, having to show an iPhone every time someone calls you on the phone is a risk I’d rather not run. So for this and other very compelling reasons as well, my iPod Touch portable ended up being my platform of choice, that I carry with me all the time.

I did not expect was that in this situation give me a unique opportunity to judge the iPod Touch mobile device itself, knowing that there is no 3G iPhone, but has some disadvantages and also has some important advantages on them:
Battery: I listen to music on my iPod Touch most of the day, use WiFi in moderation, watch the odd video and continue using other applications I use on a daily basis and still not charge the battery my iPod Touch more than once every day or day and a half. One big difference with an iPhone.
Accessibility: These days all you need to get an iPod Touch are a little over $ 200 or $ 250 and mobility to the store, mall or wherever you go shopping. No contracts, no monthly fees of 200 soles (or more), no cumbersome commitments. Once you buy, you are ready ara be used.
Power: A little known fact but the iPod Touch is the most powerful handheld device with the Apple account, which has a 532 MHz processor, much faster than 412 MHz processor that uses the iPhone 3G.
And it’s worth. No need to tell you what the iPhone means for the mobile phone market, but what causes it and the iPod Touch do “click” for me and for many users worldwide is the App Store. This little monster that already has over one thousand million downloaded applications may return to your iPhone / iPod Touch in (almost) anything you want.

So to prove my point better then I leave you with a day in the life of your server, and as my iPod Touch (iPod only from now on) helps me to do things in a much more rapid, organized and efficient:

Awake at 8 am to sound the alarm on my iPod (very strong and effective by the way). Use the Pocket Informant to see the commitments they have and the tasks that I must complete. Then I turn on my MacBook Pro to sync some playlists to do yesterday, plus a couple of games that I want to prove and I will need some later files, which synchronize via Air Sharing.

I forgot to download my email to my iPod so I make sure I do before leaving. In the taxi listen to some music while I check my email and write the first lines of this article in the Notes (to send email to my Mac later). Later I meet two friends had not seen for years so I take this opportunity to update their information in my Contacts, and continued talking and joking as he shows me where they live on Google Maps and my friend showed me a video of his daughter one year old on youtube.
