Apple patents an anti-theft technology for the iPhone
A strange patents registered by Apple unveils an attempt to develop a new anti-theft technology for its portable hardware.
The idea is certainly interesting: Apple engineers would create a system capable of allowing All accelerometer present in iPhone and laptop, to detect the typical conditions of a robbery.
The difficulty of course is to ensure that the algorithms recognize the movements and vibrations “innocent”. Little needed a system loud alarm that is activated each time a book that rests on the desk or move slightly the computer.
Along with the sound signal (conceptually similar to the sirens of car theft), the technology in question will also provide the visual messages that communicate the presence of the alarm, with the obvious purpose of discouraging thieves.
Actually there are already several programs that use the accelerometer, the Apple laptop for just this purpose, as iAlertU for example.
