The people at Apple just released a press release official statistics reveal some more impressive from the App Store:

85 thousand applications available
50 million users of iPhone and iPod touch in 77 countries
125 thousand developers in the iPhone Developer Program
2 billion applications downloaded over 500 million apps that came down this quarter

The most interesting of these statistics is to remember that reached the one billion downloads on 23 April this year and to 1,500 million in July, which means that discharges of App Store applications are accelerating markedly.

As Apple Insider explains that since the App Store opened 445 days ago had an average of 4.5 million downloads a day but if we consider the past 80 days only, that rate accelerated to reach 6.3 million applications downloaded per day. And to compare, in the first 365 days in the App Store are downloaded some 4.1 million apps per day.
