Penguin eBooks Reinventing Plan Using the iPad

In a lecture at the beginning of the week, John Makinson, CEO of Penguin Books announced that the company plans to enter the sector not only with the iPad eBooks, but would go far beyond including interactive content such as audio, video and other in their eBooks.

But the curious thing is that apparently do not plan to do it through the already announced iBookStore (where eBooks are created and distributed in ePub format), but rather through the creation of their own applications that give them more flexibility when organize your content.

“At least for now, we create much of our content and applications, to sell at various App Store and as HTML instead of eBooks. The very definition of what a book is available for the first to give a meaning” were the words of the CEO of Penguin.

For shows, I leave you with a video demonstration that the company showed in his presentation. There are very good and innovative ideas, and gives us a good overview of where OULD be heading the new standards of bibliographic content.
